To Make a Country

There are a series of steps you must follow in order to become a successful world leader. All of the successful nations followed this process:

1. What is it?

Your country will be under your complete control. Any internal affairs and military deployments (so long as they make sense) of your nation happen on your command. In order to initiate an action, announce it to the forum so that the KCA can see it. Anything that does not go through the KCA does not happen. The forum, marked International Discussions, can be easily joined, here.

Pay attention to the rules, which are listed on the KCA's page.

You will need a name for your country, and a basic overview of what it is. When your country is established, knock yourself out.

2. Where do I put it?

Look around the world, on each continent, for empty slots that you like. Keep in mind: Cimate, Neighbors, and Size. Among others, these are major factors in your rise to power. Also note that each continent has its own pros and cons. Choose wisely!
To pick your spot, go to the Continents page.

3. How do I rule it?

With the exception of Hatorian countries, you can choose whatever government style you like. You can be a big Democracy and fight Reds all around. Or, you can be an oppressive dictator and have a reign of terror. Whatever you do, you will remain in complete control; unless you are conquered.

4. How do I expand and advance?

To gain power, you must design powerful weapons and strategies to overpower the other nations. Defenses and shields do not count in the Power Scale, but they are very useful in wars. Remember, weapons patents count here. Don't copy other people's weapons (this would cause a struggle with the KCA).
When you are looking at who to topple in order to rise, pay close attention to the Rankings of Power. Also, pay attention to alliances. A country might look weak, but don't underestimate people with friends in high places. If you make the wrong decision, it could end in disaster.

Another useful tactic is allying with a powerful nation. They may give you weapons and protection in return for loyalty and maybe some money. But be careful: If your ally is toppled in a world war, you will be at the mercy of the major powers.

5. How do I make money?

Manufacturing, weapons trading, and agriculture are all good ways to build a strong ecenomy. If you are an active, exporting country, you will thrive in the economic world. But if you are inactive or extremely impractical, your economy will tank. Then, somebody will conquer you.

Also: we don't focus on things like health care reforms or any boring stuff like that. We focus on the fun stuff. Have fun!

6. How do I fight with it?

To put your country into action, use the forum on the International Discussions page (or, if you know us, talk to us!). All you have to do is make your intentions, actions, and means quite clear to the KCA and the nations of the world. No Battle Points (BP!), Oil Spills, or dice involved. We don't like having chance ways to play the game. We also do not want to deal with points and stats or any other stuff.

But when you declare war, PAY ATTENTION! If you make attacks on an enemy and then leave the site for a week, well...

8. How do I interact with other countries?

The other countries are under the jurisdiction of the other players. To interact with the country, you talk to the player. If you want to make an alliance, ask them. If you bomb or invade their country, make a general announcement on the forum so that the owner, the KCA, and the other powers know about it.

9. What are the Rankings of Power and how do they work?

The Rankings of Power are exactly what they say on the can: rankings of how powerful the different countries are. Each country is ranked independently, so allies don't effect their standings.

There are many factors that come into play in the power scale. First and foremost, weapon strength. The kinds of weapons a country possesses are key to their rank. If they have great and bountiful WMDs, they will rise to the top (like, say, The Empire of Sweden). But, if they have a sucky military that throws poop at their enemies (i.e. Crifisia), they will be... ...in a less than satisfactory place (aka DEAD LAST). Rankings are also affected by economy (whether or not they have the money to fund a war) as well as activity. If a player does not pay attention to the game, their country goes kerplunk.

Defense systems, like interceptors, do not count toward ranks. This is an offensive ranking, so two powers would know if they would be overpowered by the other or not.

Note also that the rankings are a comparison. There is no stable standard for a specific place, so don't be too excited of you move up a notch. If you are in 4th place, and the 2nd place country is conquered by the 1st place country, then you will move up to 3rd place (but you did not grow at all compared with those above or below you).
Also, if you're tied with a country, they are just as powerful as you are. If you went to war with each other, your power would cancel and you would both drop (and then eventually kill each other until you were both dead).

Ready to join?

Once you have your basic concept down for your new nation, you can contact the KCA here and establish your nation. You can also use the International Discussions forum to make a country (under "New Nations"), and you can use both of these places to ask the KCA things, in case you have questions that are not covered on this page.

I understand if you make up a fake, silly name so as to not give away personal information. In fact, we encourage it. But please do leave your email, otherwise I will not be able to get back to you.
